Story

Women V Cancer letter

Hi there,
Please could you give me a few mins of your time, and pass my email to the appropriate person, it may interest/help you if you know someone with cancer and need information.

My name is Gill James and in May 2014 I will hopefully set off from the UK to complete a cycle challenge in Cuba with 60 other ladies. The charity Women verses cancer is set up to support three charities to fight Breast, Ovarian, and Jo's Cervical cancer trust for leaflets on public information, plus a donation will go direct to Cuba unlike this country they have no national health and many women die. For me this will be an amazing challenge... as said in my opening line "hopefully" in 2006 at the age of 44 I was diagnosed with a right breast cancer i under went surgery chemo, and radiotherapy for 12months.. The year after I began a new job for a rigging inspection company PSI ltd. I saved and bought my Boardman road bike which I used for pleasure and work. In 2011 Idecided to undertake the women V cancer cycle challenge but unfortunately just as I started my training, after five years in remission a routine mammogram picked a left side breast cancer. In February I again completed chemo &radiotherapy also this time the new wonder drug Herceptin as it was a different aggressive type of cancer, but fingers crossed I am determined to do my challenge this year, seeing how easy things can change your life in a few years i feel I can give/do a worth while event to make a difference to other people. I chose this charity because having six years between cancers information has changes radically, there has never been a lot of information only the basic leaflet is given, government money is best used for treating people with cancer, and I agree! .. having cancer is frightening for the families as well as the person so I think let us raise monies for information. I'm am cycling 400kl's for the challenge and  I'm hoping to raise a minimum of £4,000. With my mini tennis club Wimbledon kids V their coaches, treasure hunts on foot, horseback and cycle, as well as sponsored cycling, evenings entertainment with auctions etc... If you can't make any events but would like to make a donation please visit my just giving page at.. www.justgiving.com/gill-hetti-james-dunkley
Thank you for your time.

Kind regards Gill
