Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!

We are holding our Slum Survivor event on the weekend of 19th - 21st December 2008.  When everyone is gearing up for the Christmas festivities we will be highlighting that over 1 billion people around the world will be spending Christmas in a cold, wet, uncomfortable slum rather than a warm, dry, cosy sofa.

Please come along and support us in person at Glenfield Methodist Church, Station Road, Glenfield, Leicester over the weekend and please donate to Soul Action to help make next Christmas better for some of the poorest people around the world.

We all survived!!!!

It is fair to say that we had an amazing weekend.  The weather may not have been great and Sarah may have got wet on friday night but we had a really good time spending time together, reflecting on what it must be like living in worse conditions then we did for the whole of your life, not just a weekend.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way, whether financially, with materials or by coming along to visit us over the weekend.  To date we have raised nearly £1,600 pounds and know that there is more to come.

Never have a hot shower and a comfortable bed felt so good.

Love Anna, Dave, Jess, Sarah, Vicki, Andrew, Bob, Claire & Gemma

We Slum Down!  The slum has been dismantled and the church garden returned to normal.  It was sad to see our temporary home come down but reminded us of the great time we had a few days before.

Great News!!!!!

We have broken the £2000 barrier! And money is still coming in!  Thank you everyone.

Hi everyone,

Whilst Andrew is in Andorra skiing I thought I would leave a message to ask any of those who were involved in Slum Survivor to contact me (Jess) because I would love to hear what you thought of the weekend. Whether you were a slum dweller, a volunteer, a visitor, or just attended the service on Sunday Morning.

24/2/2009

Thank you all so much for coming to the talk led by Jess on 23rd February at New Parks Methodist Church. It was a great success and it raised another £57 pounds towards our fund. We have had an amazing response from people and we couldn't of done it without everybody's support. Thanks again!!

10/6/2009
