Story

A team of nine colleagues from Greater Manchester Police completed the National Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours over the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th June 2010.

The team started the journey up to Glen Nevis, Scotland, early morning on Saturday 26th June 2010, and commenced the challenge at the foot of Ben Nevis at 1639hours that day.

We then made our way down to the Lake District and Snowdonia, covering a road distance of 460 miles between the three peaks.

In total the team walked a distance of 24 miles, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (scaling a total of 3407 metres or 11178 feet) and completed ourchallenge at Snowdon at 1612hours on Sunday 27th June 2010. The team clocked in at 23 hours and 33 minutes for the challenge.

We are raising money for both Springhill Hospice and Wigan & Leigh Hospice. Having seen first hand the work and commitment of the staff at Springhill Hospice when my father-in-law was there, I am sure you will agree that hospices are very deserving charities who need all the monetary support that they can get.

Yes - our challenge is now complete - but for those that we haven't been able to stick a sponsorship form or collection tub under their nose, this is another way that you can help our chosen charities. It was a great personal achievement for all the team made all the better for the generousity of those supporting us.

The money that you donate on this page will be directly received by Springhill Hospice, however we will ensure that both charities are equally supported when the final totals through justgiving.com, collection tubs and sponsorship are known.
