The Kate Salesse Swim for Women's Aid
On Tuesday 15 December Assistant Director of GMP Forensic Services Kate Salesse completed the gruelling 10 kilometres (500 lengths) swim in an outdoor pool on a cold and frosty day to raise money and awareness for Women's Aid Federation, the registered charity working to end domestic violence against women and children in the UK.
Kate Salesse surprised fellow members of the David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Trafford Park by swimming wearing an inflatable traffic cone hat every 50 of the 500 lengths, an extra challenge from her colleagues in return for more donations. A representative from the charity, Gillian Mossop, who was there to support Kate on the day, said: "Women's Aid is delighted that GMP Forensics is supporting us and raising awareness and we are particularly glad that their Diversity Action Group is committed to learning more about domestic violence so that their staff, such as Crime Scene Investigators, can provide the very best service to the public of Greater Manchester". Members of the leisure centre made donations and visited a Womens Aid stall where they could collect free leaflets containing a range of advice.
Kate has done so well to complete this incredible challenge, so please show your support for Women's Aid today.
