Thanks for visiting our  'Save the Children' fundraising page.

We are going to attempt the Mongolia Charity Rally 2009 which is to drive from London to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia. Our route will take us through France Belgium Germany Austria Italy Slovenia Croatia Bosnia Montenegro Albania Macedonia Greece Turkey Iran Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan Russia and finally 1000 miles across Mongolia via the western border skirting the Gobi Desert to the capital. We hope to have driven approximately 9,000 miles.

All the money donated here goes directly to 'Save the Children' as we are buying, equipping, fuelling and repairing the vehicle out of our own pockets.

We are leaving on the 11th of July 2009 and hope to take around 4-5 weeks. At the end of the trip we are donating our trusty Subaru Forester and equipment to be sold at auction and the proceeds will go to CDPF Childrens Development and Protection Fund charity.

We have chosen to support two charities and hope to raise at least £1000 for each

This is the page if you would like to donate to 'Save the Children'

If it is of interest you can keep up to date with our progress on this website as we are trying to keep a blog before and en route

'Save the Children' started work in Mongolia in 1994. Two out of every three Mongolian children mis out on pre school education. They are providing teachers, parents and children with training materials and books. Last Year they helped to improve the quality of education for 12,125 pre and primary school children by training 485 preschool teachers in child centred teaching methods. They also enabled 2,593 poor, nomadic, minority ethnic and disabled children to go to pre and primary school by setting up kindergardens and providing mobile teachers. Working with a local partner, they provided direct services for 709 disabled children and more than 2,000 benefitted from training and imformation we gave to their parents and carers.
