Thanks for visiting our  'SOS Children's Villages' fundraising page.

We are going to attempt the Mongolia Charity Rally 2009 which is to drive from London to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia. Our route will take us through France Belgium Germany Austria Italy Slovenia Croatia Bosnia Montenegro Albania Macedonia Greece Turkey Iran Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan Kazakhstan Russia and finally 1000 miles across Mongolia via the western border skirting the Gobi Desert to the capital. We hope to have driven approximately 10,000 miles.

All the money donated here goes directly to 'SOS Children’s Villages' as we are buying, equipping, fuelling and repairing the vehicle out of our own pockets.

We are leaving on the 11th of July 2009 and hope to take around 4-5 weeks. At the end of the trip we are donating our trusty Subaru Forester and equipment to be sold at auction and the proceeds will also go to charity.

We have chosen to support two charities and hope to raise at least £1000 for each

This is the page if you would like to donate to 'SOS Children's Villages'

'SOS Children's Villages' are the world's largest orphan charity. In 1997 the charity was invited by the Mongolian government to discuss the possibility of setting up a community for orphaned and abandoned children. Following an agreement between the two parties in 1998, a suitable site was found on the outskirts of the capital, Ulaan Baatar. Work was completed in the summer of 2002 when the first SOS families were able to move in. SOS Children's Village Ulaan Baatar has fourteen family houses which are home to 110 children and their SOS mothers.

A second SOS Children’s Village is planned to be built at Darkhan in the north of the country. When completed there will be 14 family houses for 140 children.
