We work to make international trade fair to tackle poverty all around the world

Story

I was very moved by a 5 second mention on radio 4 of 23 million people facing drought and famine this year in East Africa. I heard this as I was feeding myself and my daughter our tea and wondered how it must feel to not be able to feed your own kids, let alone your own belly after a long day at work.

I also listened to a discussion of a Kenyan chap who asked the West to stop giving aid as it was often making things worse.

I wondered what to do. I reckon the only thing I could do was tell you about it, do something to raise money and give it to Fairtrade foudation who support the world's poorest by enabling them to trade. I also think going with out food for a day will help me appreciate even more what i have. So am doing a 24 hour fast from 1st to 2nd October. I;m a 'big girl' so this will be a challenge.

I would appreciate your support and any donation you can give

thanks

Fairtrade has changed the lives of over a million farmers and workers in the developing world. But there are many more still getting a bad deal from international trade. Support us and bring Fairtrade to more farmers, workers and their families, so that they too can work their own way out of poverty
