Story
Greetings,
Thanks for visiting this page. I'll be running in the BUPA Great North Run on the 5th October 2008 for charity. It is the biggest half-marathon in the world, spanning 13.1 miles from Newcastle city centre to South Shields!
I'm running for the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust - (www.hart-uk.org) HART strives to relieve suffering and establish long-term solutions for those oppressed and persecuted, who are unfortunately often neglected by other organisations and the media. I first heard of HART when i was scouting to establish a charity project in Northern Uganda - an orphanage called the Patongo Orphan Infant Health Rehabilitation (Paorinher) Centre. 95% of its fund comes from HART, so when i heard that the orphans need new toilets for proper sanitation, i thought it would be great if i could run for these poor orphans.
I have often taken basic things like sanitation and water for granted, so it is shocking that there are people in other parts of the world who do not have access to these, and these orphans have few to stand up for them. I was (and still am) really touched when i read the annual report with photos and descriptions about the orphanage and each of the orphans (including why they are orphaned). Please let me know if you would like to be have a read at the report and/or to be updated about these orphans.
Every little thought counts and i'm sure these orphans (and others who receive help from HART) will benefit from your donation. It's simple and safe to donate - just visit my page at www.justgiving.com/gracetan1. If you are a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please spread the word around. I thank you in advance for your kind support and time. May the Lord bless you always.
Best wishes,
Grace
