Hi,
We are both serving firefighters with Blue Watch Rugby, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Last November we attended the warehouse fire at Atherstone on Stour which tragically claimed the lives of four of our colleagues. Also in the past few years several firefighters having retired from Rugby have lost their lives shortly afterwards due to illess.
In memory of those firefighters Andy and myself are embarking on a cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats to try and raise much needed funds for both The Fire Fighter's Charity and Myton Hospice (see http://www.justgiving.com/andyandgreg to donate to Myton Hospice)
Andy is a lithe, athletic 34 year old. An experienced cyclist having toured Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Europe and Ireland before joining the Fire Service.
I'm 50, have a dodgy knee and ankle, arthritic shoulders and hands, smoke and drink too much, and loathe cycling.
But in all seriousness, please give a little to help a lot to these two very worthy causes.
