Land's End to John O'Groats bike ride · 27 May 2008

We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!

Story

Hi,

We are both serving firefighters with Blue Watch Rugby, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Last November we attended the warehouse fire at Atherstone on Stour which tragically claimed the lives of four of our colleagues. Also in the past few years several firefighters having retired from Rugby have lost their lives shortly afterwards due to illess.

In memory of those firefighters Andy and myself are embarking on a cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats to try and raise much needed funds for both Myton Hospice and The Fire Fighter's Charity (see http://www.justgiving.com/gregandandy to donate to TFFC)

Andy is a lithe, athletic 34 year old. An experienced cyclist having toured Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Canada, Europe and Ireland before joining the Fire Service.

I'm 50, have a dodgy knee and ankle, arthritic shoulders and hands, smoke and drink too much, and loathe cycling.

But in all seriousness, please give a little to help a lot to these two very worthy causes.

If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you,

Greg and Andy
