The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

This is our first ever marathon!  We plan to run, jog, skip, walk, crawl and drag ourselves to the finish line, so that we can raise  lots of money for Guide Dogs.  Having a guide dog as part of the family has made us realise how valuable they are, so please support our charity.

We have been training very hard!  So now we need your dosh!  Please please please sponsor us a measley old fiver, or more if your wonderfully kind, big hearted and generous. We would very much appreciate it and it is all for a good cause, after all you are the ones that get to watch us suffer!

It costs £10 a day, to breed, train and support each guide dog partnership and as the charity relies on voluntary donations to fund its services, every penny raised will make a huge difference to blind and partially sighted people.

The Cost of training a Guide dog puppy is £5000

The cost of a Guide Dog for life is £35,000

Giving someone a lifetime of independance ... PRICELESS!

Any donations would be gladly received, thanks for your support.

We have now completed all our runs before the marathon!! Here are the stats:

Total miles run: 358.4 - That's 13.7 marathons’ worth of running. And soon to be joined by one more marathon of course…

Minutes spent training: an amazing 4035 (or 67.25 hours), making our average pace 11:25 minute miles.

Calaries burnt up: 38994.  That's an amazing 19.5 days worth of food! But it took alot of effort!!!

We have been in the newspaper!  You can see the article at:  http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/news/Marathon-runners-help-blind/article-894365-detail/article.html

We got a mention in the newspaper when we finished!  YES WE ACTUALLY DID IT!

Hannah finished in 5.20 and Sue in 5.22.52.  We were really pleased to cross the line together, in one peace with only aching limbs and a few blisters.  They'll be days when we think that we can never run another marathon but we'll have a life time of knowing that we have.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guide Dogs gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

Thank you
