Story
---Real stuff---
That's right! It’s a premature midlife crisis. I can’t afford a flash car so I thought I’d become obsessed with something else. Marathon running seemed like a great idea at the time. Think about it. Getting fit. Buying some snazzy synthetic clothing. Smugly evangelising to others about how good you feel etc [stop press]...
…[cut to January] The reality is that marathon training is a miserable business. You have to train in the dark, in the cold and in the rain. Your body hurts all the time. Parts of you start to blister, bleed, chafe, swell, break, throb etc. It’s completely unnatural. It is, however, for a very good cause. The aim is to raise £1600 for the British Lung Foundation – a charity which really makes a difference to the lives of COPD patients. I’ve worked in the therapy area for 3 years now and trust me they get a raw deal.
...[cut to March] have now lost 21lbs and four toenails. Please make this worthwhile.
All donations gratefully received!
