Marathon update....

I completed my 3rd Marathon in a time of 3:46:02!  It was an incredible day, a huge challenge but all worth it (but hobbling a bit now as expected!).  Running over tower bridge was an amaising experience the with all the crowds cheering.  

The race plan was to try to give the pb a nudge (have run a 3:20) but as I was just recoving from a bad cough so was just going to see what happened on the day.  The first half went well ran 1:42 - then like clockwork, at about the 29km mark, I got the dreaded cramps (in nearly exactly the same place as the last couple of years).  All the race plans then went out the window & fell back on the training runs to hopefully keep the legs going.  I just enjoyed myself for the last part whilst trying to keep the cramps at bay and even managed a little sprint to the finish line. 

Thank you so much for all your sponsorship!!  This will get put to very good use at the Royal London Society for the Blind.  It was also a strong motivating factor for me in the marathon itself!

It was a privilege that I had the opportunity to run again for the Royal London Society for the Blind.  My grandmother was blind for the latter part of her life & it was inspiring to see her determination to lead an active life within the local community.

I ran over 700km in training, burnt 70,229 kCals (I'm sure that equates to a lot of easter eggs!) + worn out a pair of trainers!....
