I had a little Diamond, a gemstone which I loved.

I kept it close beside me and gave it endless love.

This lovely little Diamond meant the world to me,

But then one day I lost it, it was taken away from me.

 

There will never be a Diamond which will ever mean the same.

There will never be a cure that will ever take my pain.

But the world goes on around me; I see diamonds that are fine,

But no-one has a Diamond which is half as good as mine.

 

Each day I miss my Diamond, my pure and precious stone.

And each day that I think of it my heart feels so alone.

One day I’ll find my Diamond in many years to come,

And still it will be my Diamond, for that Diamond was my son.
