Story
I finished! Completed in 4:13:22.
Thank you to everybody who made a donation to Dementia UK and helped support me in my first marathon!
-----------------------
I am running the Paris Marathon
on April 11th, which is now just over a week away. It might seem
like I've just decided to do this, but don't worry I've been training
since last year. I've even given up the booze.
I am running in aid of Dementia
UK. This is a
charity close to my heart and which
many of you helped support when I did my first
10km race in 2008.
At the time my grandfather was suffering from vascular dementia and
whilst he was fortunate to receive
great support and care, lots of people suffering from dementia and
Alzheimers are
not . He died later
on that year and it is in honour of him that
I'd like to continue to promote the good work of this small charity.
Training has been tough not least because I injured my leg earlier this
year (hence holding off on the fundraising) but with help from Elaine
at the Abbey
Clinic I am all
mended and my legs shouldn't fall off.
I will be pounding the Parisian roads with
my brother-in-law Jim and good friend Jack. My family, Carter,
Katie, Nick, Viv and Nicky along with various other miscreants will be there to cheer me along/toast me from the sidelines. I'm so
grateful for their support.
