The Challenge of a Life Time !!!

On March 5th 2010, I will be leaving for Kathmandu to start the trek to Everest Base Camp Nepal, which stands at a height of 5364m, just 3500m below the summit of Everest itself.

I am undertaking this crazy trip for several reasons, but mainly to raise money for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, based in Buckinghamshire, UK. The kind and professional staff of the charity ensure that suffers of cancer, and other terminal illness, receive excellent Nursing care in the comfort of the ownhome during their last days, as was the case with my late father.

The trek will take 17 days and it will include several days at various Nepal villages to acclimatise to the heights that myself and fellow trekkers will be experiencing.  The trek is describe as “extreme” and the trekking company go to great lengths to state how tough the trek will be.  I have heard it said that “all worth wild endeavours are meant to hurt” and raising money for charity in this manner will certainly be tough and challenging.

If you feel that you will be able to help me reach my goal of raising a minimum of £3550 for The Ian Rennie Hospice at Home, please click the blue Sponsor Me Now button on this webpage.

Lastly MANY THANKS to all for your support, whether it is directly to me during my training leading up to the trek or as part of the fund raising, I am most appreciative.

7th Dec 2009 - updates.

Fund raising - £2775.34 rasied on line, plus another £607 offline and the Gift aid amount of £246.09 gives a grand total of £3628.43 raised to date.  This is amazing, as the minimum amount I wanted to raise was £3550.00 and now I am only a few pounds away from my target amount of £4000 and its all down to you, thank you everybody!!!

Me - for those of you that have seen me in recent weeks, you will have noticed the differance in me, I have now lost 5 stone in weight and I am getting fitter by the day.  It is now just 12 weeks until I leave to start the trek, so one last big push to be a peak fitness for March and by then I also hope to have lost another stone in weight.
