Oh my!  Can you believe it - yes I am running the BUPA Great Manchester Run on 18 May 2008. It's a bit of a personal challenge following the 6 stone weight loss and having started training I am LOVING IT!  I have asked my mate Jo (pictured with me on the left) to help me, she has run the race before but is doing it this time with me as moral support. Vivienne has also been roped in to taking part - whether or not we all cross the finishing line together is another matter but it's the moral support that counts!

For me this is a huge personal challenge,12 months ago I wouldn't have even considered running for a bus never mind contemplating running in a 10km race.  Jo has supported me like no-one else through this weight loss and I couldn't have done it without her and she will be there again at my side during the run and I am so looking forward to it (I wonder if I will feel the same at the start!). 

Anyone who has lost a large amount of weight will understand how hard it is to keep it off and this is my way of giving myself the incentive to keep active and help to keep the weight under control.

We have decided to support Guide Dogs and help to support this fabulous charity in providing help and support to those less fortunate than us.  It really would be appreciated if you would support them on behalf of me and give me the boost I need to complete the run - I look forward to your messages!
