Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Well here we are almost a year from when our son was injured and so much has happened! Able Seaman Kate Nesbitt, now MC, was awarded the Military Cross for saving Jon, and also won a Millie Award. You may have seen Jon and Kate at the Festival of Rememberance at the Albert Hall, and Kate all over the local press! Jon is now fully recovered and back with his regiment.
Thanks to Kate's actions we are about to become grandparents and there will be a wedding very soon, so this is a very different year to last year. We will be closing this page in April, but will continue to fundraise where we can. Thank you all for your continued support during the past year.
Our Fun Day on 6th June 2009 surpassed our expectations, enabling us to send £977.50 each to Help For Heroes, and another, less well known charity, the St. John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service. Both of which supported our son and ourselves after he was critically injured in Afghanistan in March 2009. He is now back with his regiment in Chepstow, well on the road to recovery. We would love to raise £1000 on this site, just for Help for Heroes, they make such a difference to Servicemen and Women who suffer life changing injuries. Our son was 'lucky'. He was critically, but not life changingly injured. Most are not so lucky. Please, please help, if you can. The minimum donation is just £2, and you can Gift Aid making the donation more valuable. Thank you. Debbie Merritt
