Story

May Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon You!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.

Our beloved mother/grandmother Hajjah L. Khanom was a symbol of unconditional love! She was adored by her family, neighbours, friends and the wider community. Her exemplary personality spread smiles, laughter and serenity to everyone who came in contact with her. She dedicated her entire life in loving others. In early April 2021, she returned to her Lord after contending with Cholangiocarcinoma (A rare cancer in the bile duct). Moments before her inevitable journey , she softly murmured the Shahadah. During her last moments, she was in the company of her - Alhamdulillah - large family, and eventually, she drifted into a deep serene sleep, smiling.

This humble servant of Allah touched the hearts of many. We, the family, have been overwhelmed and inundated by the thoughtful, heartfelt and profound messages of condolences by so many diverse and wonderful people.

Unreservedly, we would like to say a sincere JazzakumAllahukhairan (May God Reward you) and thank you to everyone who was part of her life's journey. So... thank you for your tender thoughtful words, comforting warm hugs, unrestricted cooperation, support and  rapid response during her time of critical need. May Allah raise your names in a congregation amongst the prophets and the righteous.

Today, with the help of Allah, we wish to continue Sadaqah Jaariyah (Ongoing Charity) in her memory by helping other cancer patients.

In collaboration with World Child Cancer (Charity), your generosity and supplications, together, We would strive to modernise and update the Paediatric Oncology Ward ( Child Cancer ) in Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The ward is in urgent need of furnishing and renovation (please refer to attached photos)

Your donations will help to:

• purchase new beds and mattresses

• re-plaster and paint the walls

• install a functioning a/c system

• provide fully functional refrigerators to store medication.

The rest of the funds will be used to provide psychosocial support to patients, parents and their wider families, and towards cancer treatment, travel and accommodation costs for patients and respective parents/carers.

In Bangladesh, it is expected that over 9,000 children will develop cancer each year. Only a fraction of them will ever receive an accurate diagnosis meaning they die of a mystery disease. Childhood cancer is curable if diagnosed early enough, but due to a lack of awareness among healthcare professionals, diagnosis often comes too late, if at all. Even when a cancer is diagnosed, families are often forced to abandon treatment because of high treatment costs. Sometimes the only painkillers they can afford, is paracetamol. 😔

With little access to treatment, there are an estimated two million children in need of palliative care in Bangladesh, yet very few of these children ever gain access to it.

With your help, we can change this.

We ask you to kindly support us in this journey, whether it’s £1 or £100, every single penny will count unimaginably, in this blessed month of Ramadan.

We will also be able to provide updates, and case studies of the patients throughout our journey.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Muslim)

Please kindly share our page with friends and family.

Peace, mercy and blessings

In low- and middle-income countries fewer than 1 in 10 children with cancer are diagnosed, treated or given pain relief.
