Story
Dear People
I am about to embark on a coxing mission at Dorney Lake that would make the Boston Marathon's three hour row look like a training exercise! The aim is to keep a boat moving for a 12 hour period with rotated coxwains and rowers in support of Autism research.
As most of you know I work with children and their families who have autism and am aware of the day to day realities and struggles that families face.
Imagine living in an unsympathetic world, battling to attempt to join in yet simultaneously needing to keep the world out. People with autism are often misunderstood and frightened, being seen as a problem to be solved and not a unique individual with unique talents.
Let’s try and link our two worlds by raising funds for further research, encouraging better understanding of ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). Any donation would be gratefully received (even if it’s as little as £1.50), pennies make pounds and it is the gesture that counts.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Autism Speaks (formerly NAAR (UK)) will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and showing your support.
Kind regards
Helster
