Thank you for visiting our Justgiving page. We are raising funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre (MSRC). Why? Because of our connection with Alastair Hignell. Higgy was the outstanding sportsman of his generation (late 1970's), when he captained Cambridge University at both rugby and cricket, playing cricket for Gloucestershire and representing England at rugby. Five of us played in the 1977 Varsity Match when Higgy captained Cambridge. Tim Bryan captained Oxford in the same match. Paul Fisher played cricket for Oxford against Higgy in the mid 1970's. A number of others of us are headmasters who played sport at Oxford or Cambridge. Alastair was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999 and is Patron of the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre, the charity have dubbed us "Higgys Heroes" and we truly hope to live up to this title and need your support! Higgy is the nicest person you'll ever meet and we want to do this to acknowledge his contribution to Oxbridge sport, to the MSRC and to human decency! We have been inspired by his formidable character and his tenacity - he truly sums up the MSRC ethos that "Life is For Living". Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the team: The Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor "Higgys Heroes" and show your support!! Thank you Joe, Ginny, Mal, Huw, Simon, Mike, Paul, Eddie, Nick, Tim, Keith, Andy and Jerry UPDATE England Rugby Captain, Phil Vickery, took time off from England's preparations for the match against France to add his support for the MSRC runners taking part in the Flora London Marathon. "I tried a half-marathon once and it nearly killed me. I'm not really built for long distance running so I am in awe of those who are taking on the Flora London Marathon. I wish "Higgy's Heroes" every success with their final preparations and hope their efforts will raise lots of money for a very worthwhile cause".
