Story

We all successfully completed the 13 Mile Chiltern Challenge Walk on 7th June 2009 and certainly earned our sponsorship money!
The walk was definitely a challenge... with enough steep climbs that we felt we could well be challenging for the 'Tour de France', King of the Mountain' polka dot jerseys or just about to come across Ranolph Fiennes at any moment!

The weather was very kind to us and the heavy rain and thunderstorms disappeared by our start time and we walked in lovely sunshine all day! We took a detour to a local pub at the 11 mile checkpoint for lunch, which involved an extra mile of walking and a steep 1 in 2 climb, Stuart forgot to look at the contours on the map, before picking our lunch spot, June and Nick were not impressed and asked to speak to the lunching committee... so we actually walked 14 Miles!

We had a great day and lots of laughs!

Our thanks to all our friends and family, who helped us to to raise over £5,473.44, including gift aid, for the Sue Ryder Hospice at Nettlebed and we still have further donations to come. The Hospice relies on voluntary funding of £1.4m each year,or put another way, 50% of the funding has to be generated from charitable donations. Sue Ryder provides invaluable care, to people like myself, diagnosed with life limiting illnesses and our families.

I have attended the hospice as an outpatient, for some time now, and this is a way of myself and my fabulous friends saying thank you, and helping to make sure others have the same opportunity to benefit from the specialist palliative care services and support, which is a free service to those you need it.

A big thank you to all those who have donated offline including Rosie and Simon Lambert who have sent Sue Ryder a cheque for £200 and Colin Porter and family who have also donated £200!
