Eden Valley Hospice is dedicated to caring and supporting local people with life limiting illnesses and conditions. Jigsaw is Cumbria's Children's Hospice, caring for children and young people with life limiting conditions.

Story

Welcome to the crazy but wonderful challenge inspired by Andy 'bigarms' Powell (don't ask, I think it's a Navy thing!) to motivate Radiography departments across the UK in an effort to row 100 km in teams of 10 on indoor machines. We must be mad!!  But as always there is a benefit to this madness in the hope that we can persuade you good folk to sponser our efforts in aid of our fantastic local charity the Eden Valley Hospice.

The RESULTS are in!

Saturday proved to be a day of heroic individual and team efforts as every single rower within the three teams of 10 completed their requisite FORTY goes on on the rowing machine over a 7 hour period to bring their teams home.

Blood, sweat and tears there was not, well maybe some sweat, but there was plenty of pain and exhaustion and more than a few moments of doubt, but the superb spirit of co-operation that was exhibited within all three teams meant that everyone overcame their personal walls each time they hit them.

It was a day of great pride not only for the rowers but also for all the members of staff who took time on their day off to show fantastic support and help fundraise, and for the superb generosity shown by members of the public parting with their dosh into the Hospice buckets to the astounding tune of £537.66!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Though this figure was certainly elevated due to Neils quirky quiz which managed to raise money even when people didn't want to play it, and by Alice and Sarahs charm as they handed out world radiography day stickers to passers by.
