Story
In a time where sponsored runs, cycles or swims are frequently organised to raise money for worthwhile causes, it was one man's crazy idea which brings a whole new meaning to the word challenge. A challenge that stands out from existing sponsored events and will determine who really has the "fit factor"!
At the beginning of 2010, Mark Taylor proposed an idea which would push even the most experienced runners and cyclists beyond their personal best. In April 2011, that idea will become a reality. Mark has convinced 7 others to join him in the quest for the fit factor. So on April 9th, they will leave Hamstreet, cycle to Paris, compete in the Paris marathon, jump straight back onto their bikes and cycle the 225 miles back to Hamstreet. A 5 day trip, cycling 450 miles and running just over 26 miles!
Their enthusiasm and dedication to complete this is resulted in their aim in raising not only awareness of MS but also funds for MS sufferers. In the last few years several local people have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease which has no cure and whose symptoms vary in each sufferer. The funds from this challenge will be donated to the Kent MS Therapy Centre, a registered charity set up by people with MS for people with MS.
With no government funding the centre operates purely from donations. The Hamstreet-Paris-Hamstreet Fit Factor challenge will be donating all funds raised to this worthwhile cause in recognition for all the work they do for their friends and family who suffer with this disease.
