On 8th September 2011, I successfully reached the summit of Kilimanjaro for Breast Cancer Care UK.

 

The first five days of walking were challenging but manageable, however the final walk to the summit from midnight until sunrise was possibly the most difficult thing I have ever done. My first experience of altitude sickness kicked in shortly after setting off for the summit and every step was a struggle.

 

Despite feeling horrendous and completely drained on the final walk, it was a fantastic experience - one that I will remember forever, but never repeat!
