Story

Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit  the first Have Stick Will Travel  JustGiving page.

Members of the Bristol Esporta health and fitness club are taking part in a 24 hour marathon spin bike a thon to raise money and awareness for local chariy, Have Stick Will Travel (HSWT). HSWT was established in 2008 by a local man, Dan Gallimore, who became visually impaired after a violent assault whilst going to the aid of a man being severely attacked. Dan was the inaugral winner of the Daily Mirror Pride of  Britain Awards in 1999. He has since rebuilt his life and set up HSWT to help other visually impaired individuals.

The charity is looking to raise funds to provide grants to people in this group whose lives will be dramatically improved by the provision of aids such as talking watches, microwaves and specialist computer software. They are also looking to provide blind awareness training to businesses and organisations.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - Have Stick Will Travel raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Esporta Health Club Bristol, General Manager, Rod Buckman said: “I would urge anyone who wants to get involved to support this fantastic local charity to get in touch and we will give them a slot on the bikes. We are delighted to be able to support Daniel’s work – he is a remarkable individual who shows what human spirit can do in the face of adversity. I’ll be doing a session on the bikes too – it’ll be hard work, but is for a great cause.”

So please dig deep and donate now.
