Story

Hello

On the 22 / 23 of June a four man dream team from SMD Group Ltd will be taking on the Trek50 Challenge. The team is made up of Jason “The Boss” Kenworthy, Neil “Girders” Anderson, Spencer “The Real Boss” Brennand and Andrew “Windy” Miller.

Their team name is “iLiv to Trek!”

They will be enduring a blistering 50 mile trek across the beautiful Pennine Hills on the Lancashire and Yorkshire borders in 24 hours. The route includes 8,000ft of ascents which is the equivalent of climbing Snowdon (3,650ft) and Ben Nevis (4,409ft).

The reason for them doing such a gruelling challenge is down to one local based charity called Derian House (www.derianhouse.co.uk), which is situated in the heart of Lancashire. Derian House is renowned throughout the region as being at the forefront of children’s palliative and respite care.

The charity is set up for families who have a child with a life shortening condition such as childhood cancer. They can choose from a range of care and support services to meet their individual needs which include; short planned breaks in Derian House, Hospice at Home, Sibling support group, end of life care and support at home, or in Derian House, and Bereavement support after the death of child.

They are currently supporting more than 300 families who have a child with a life shortening illness, and a further 200 who are receiving bereavement support. For them Derian House is the means by which they deal with the highs and lows of their child’s illness and its aftermath.

We have already raised £2,000 for MedEquip4Kids but now we are challenging ourselves to raise over £3,000 to donate to Derian House, so please donate what you can as this is a truly great cause.

Thank you for your support
