Fundraising for Help for Heroes
Story

Why Help for Heroes?
Help for Heroes is a charity aimed at helping injured service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The charity's first aim is to raise £6 million to build a swimming pool and new gym complex at Headley Court, the tri-service rehabilitation centre in Surrey. (As of 09/06/08 they have raised £6.7M)
I chose the Help For Heroes charity because I have a son in the military and I wanted to support the guys who are prepared to put their lives on the line so the rest of us dont have to. My effort is in recognition of the sacrifice these guys routinely make.
Why 2K?
I am rowing my way through 2000 KM.I chose 2000Km because a few years ago I rowed 1200Km representing the distance between Lands End and John O'Groats. For this event I decided to push myself a little bit further and have set myself a target of 2000Km to be completed by 30th September 2008. This target is broken down further and I aim to complete 125Km per week.
I began my journey on 6th May 2008 from Corsham in Wiltshire and have kept a diary of where I have rowed to and this can be found on the following web page.
