Final Final Update

Royal Mail have donated £200 as part of a generous CSR programme , bringing the total to over £2000 once the charity collects the Gift Aid from the paper based sponsorship forms.

Amazing effort - well done to all

Final Update : Thanks to all your brilliant donations I felt inspired at the weekend. The cycling was long , the north wind didn't help! the seat made certain parts of me sore , the scenery brilliant with some beautiful lanes and castles seen. We made it into Edinburgh with 30 mins to spare after a couple of punctures on our final day.

You have helped me raise almost £1500 by the time the charity collects the Gift Aid.

You have been brilliant , Well done.

Ian

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am not a great asker for cash , and will recognise that you all probably already give alot. Here is my heart felt plea that if even a few of you give me a few pounds will make the Newcastle - Edinburgh 197 mile cycle ride that I am tackling this weekend slightly less painful.

For the last couple of years I have had the privilege of going skiing with a school party , part of which are children from Villa Real School ( a mixed school for pupils who have severe , profound or complex and multiple learning difficulties or Autistic Spectrum Disorder). The parents and teachers of these children cope brilliantly, calmly with children outside of their normal environments and bring them an experience that really has positive impacts on them. The integration of teenagers across the week is remarkable and the week leaves all participants touched by friends they have made who are clearly the same and yet uniquely different to themselves. The school cannot afford to take children again next year because they are still paying for this years trip. I want to help in some small way by boosting their extra curricular funds.

To see the face of ***** learning to ski , and on the last day actually doing it alone is such a sense of achievement, to see another boy ****** dancing at the disco with the rest of the kids , to see the sheer joy (and fear) of sledging with 100 other boisterous kids is absolutely priceless , makes me feel very small and want to give something for it to happen.

Villa Real School is a mixed day school for pupils who have severe, profound or complex and multiple learning difficulties, or Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The school was purpose built in September 1999.
Pupils are currently grouped into 11 classes. Pupils with Complex and Multiple Learning Difficulties work alongside their age peers in inclusive class groups. Pupils with Autism, who usually find mixing in groups very difficult, have a separate provision with scope for integration into the mainstream of the school when appropriate.

Our School aims to provide a thriving school community, made up of Infants, Juniors, and Seniors, where the individual counts and where they can gain academic, sporting, cultural and social experience - experience that will stand them in good stead for the future years. All our staff are caring, supportive and well qualified. They work together as a team to provide a structured curriculum that ensures good results.
