Story

The National Three Peaks Challenge 2010

This October 1st/2nd, I will be attempting the National 3 Peaks with colleagues from my work place. We are a team of 4 and for 3 of us.. it is the first time of trying.

We will be starting at the foot of Ben Nevis, which is the highest mountain in the British Isles. We will climb to the summit and make our way back to the bottom. We will then have to drive to the Lake District and climb the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. When we have climbed this mountain, we will have to rush off to North Wales in order to complete our challenge by Climbing to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.

                                 The statistics are as follows

                                       Ben Nevis - 4409ft

                                      Scafell Pike - 3209ft

                                        Snowdon - 3560ft

                                          26 miles hiking

                                      460 miles travelling

                                        11,178ft climbed

                                          all in 24 hours!!

And here is the reason why we are doing this....

Jigsaw School is a UK registered charity.  They are an independent day school, registered with the DfE to provide specialist education and life skills training for children with autistic spectrum disorders and related communication disorders.

Jigsaw School is unique: it is the only school of its kind in Surrey that offers applied behaviour analysis as a teaching methodology and it exists to improve the lives of children and families affected by autism through education, training and research.

The School, which is based in Dunsfold, Surrey, was founded by a group of parents and has grown since it opened in September 1999 to provide a much needed resource for up to 40 children from 5 through to 19 years of age.
