Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Amy and I have decided to take on the challenge of completing this years London Marathon and in doing so are hoping to raise £4,000 for Marie Curie
Research shows around 70 per cent of people would like to die at home if they had a terminal illness, with a sizeable minority opting for hospice care. However, more than 50 per cent of cancer deaths still occur in hospital, the place people say they would least like to be. Marie Curie Cancer Care are determined to provide the support and specialist care needed to make the choice to die at home a reality.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK’s largest charities. Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, it expects to provide care to around 27,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its 10 hospices this year and is the largest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS. The charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community to provide end-of-life care, totally free for patients in their own homes.
Marie Curie Nurses make it possible for people to live to the very last moment – at home, where they want to be, surrounded by loved ones.
We would both really appreciate it if you could give anything to help towards our target total.
