Thanks for visiting the CF Trust page.
UPDATE: I successfully completed the marathon in 4Hrs 4mins. While the fundraising target has now been reached, please lets not stop! if you can help these charities, please do so.
Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease, effecting over 8000 people in the UK. Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population. (Ireland has the highest incidence rate in the world, 1 in 19.)
Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system by clogging them with thick sticky mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food.
Since the founding of the CF Trust in 1964, they have been working to improve the lives of people with CF, raise the profile of CF and fund research into a cure.
CF Trust is the only UK support charity, I would encourage you to help them in that work by supporting my participation in the Dublin Marathon. I hope that the weeks of training for the 26.2miles brings benefit to sufferers and their families. (Read more about the CF Trust here.) Medication cost are high because the NHS does not offer adult sufferers any financial support through free or reduced price prescriptions.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CF Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now - thank you!
Note: I am also fundraising for TearFund (East Africa Food Crisis Appeal). All funds raised offline (i.e. on my sponsor forms) will be divided equally between the Tearfund Appeal and the CF Trust. Online, however it is not possible to support two charities through one webpage. Click here to see my Tearfund page
