We Support nursery education in The Gambia to Give young children a better start

Story

The Gambian Schools Project is a registered Charity started by Janet & John Mason in April 2004.

In 2013 I ran the Milton Keynes Marathon and raised over £1000 for this fantastic charity that is dedicated to supporting Nursery Schools in the Gambia with resources, materials, and advice.

In 2014 I will be dedicating 6 months to training for Ironman Austria which is on 29th June. Ironman events are world-renowned as one of the life's greatest physical challenges. On one day I will endure a 2.4 mile swim followed by a 112 mile bike ride and then a marathon run (26.2 miles). I will burn 12,000 calories on that day and push my body to the limit for probably 12 to 15 hours....but it'll all be worth it with your support!

At the moment the charity are supporting 3 nursery schools- Bafuloto, Makumbaya and Nema Kunda, and in the past have also helped Badala Nursery School in Serrakunda.

Their funds are raised by sponsorship of the children (it costs £20 per year to see a 4-8 year old through their nursery education.), donations and special events such as Charity dinners, Charity golf days, and sponsored sporting events.

Knowing that I've got your support and that the funds will make a massive difference to many kids lives will spur me on, especially during those dark moments when the body says 'no' but I keep going!

About the charity

The charity helps nursery schools in the Gambia, West Africa, by giving financial material and educational support to give the young children a good start in life.
