Story
A question…
Hello
Have you ever run a marathon, considered swimming 2.4miles or even contemplated cycling 112miles? Does it tire you just thinking about one of them? Well to raise a little cash for charity I’m going to attempt them all ….on the same day! Sixteen hours of toil, torment and agony under the hot Mediterranean sun.
The race starts this Sunday 22nd June in Nice (France) at 6.30am local time with the final cut off time at 10:30pm. You can keep track of my progress on www.ironmanlive.com, race number is 844, I hope it’s lucky number.
So, my question is….will you sponsor me? I have a website you can easily donate on www.justgiving.com/ironmanoridiot. I fund everything myself so 100% of money donated goes to Cancer Research UK. You have all been very generous in the past so I thank you in advance for your kind donations and I promise this may be the last time I ask you for sponsorship.
You can get details of the event at http://www.triangle-events.net/netautor/napro4/appl/na_professional/parse.php?mlay_id=2500&xmlval_ID_DOC[0]=1006984
Thanks

05-11-07 I DID IT!!!!!
3hrs 54mins....not quite as fast as Paula Radcliffe but she did have a 30min head start on the main field and started at the front. It was a lot harder than I had imagined especially from mile 15, and I had to constantly fight the urge to walk. But crossing the finishing line was an amazing feeling, the crowds were buzzing the relief and excitement of finishing my first marathon combined into a euphoric high. I highly recommend it!
Thank you all VERY much for your kind donations, I really appreciate your support.

The Plan: To raise five grand for Cancer Research UK over the next year.
How?: By completing various physical challenges from a marathon to an Ironman triathlon.
Why?: To make the world a better place, get fit and lose weight.
How can YOU help?
Please sponsor me GENEROUSLY to run the New York Marathon on Sunday 4th November 2007. When considering how much to donate, bear in mind I have never run a marathon before, I now train 6 days per week so therefore have no social life and I’ve been tee-total 4 days per week for several months. I also spend a fortune on gym fees/coaching/sportswear, I’ve been shot by an air rifle while jogging and lost 13kgs in weight (that’s over 2 stones). If I can give up my social life I’m sure you can spare a few quid.
Cancer is a cruel and indiscriminate disease. Everybody knows somebody who has been affected, so please get behind me and show your support.
NOTE: 100% of expenses are funded by me so 100% sponsorship from YOU goes directly to Cancer Research plus the Government will refund 28%. This does not mean you should donate 28% less!
You can keep uptodate on race day by logging onto www.ingnycmarathon.org My race number is 10364.
