UPDATE

Well we all did it and are feeling really proud of ourselves (as well as very sore)  The weather was so awful but our spirits were kept high with the knowledge that we had so much support behind us.  Special congratulations to Christopher Malla who was the fastest of all of us (sorry Dom just accept you were only 2nd).  We will get a photo of us for the site but in the meantime thanks to everyone who sponsored us and if you haven't yet lets try to double our target to £30000 by 22nd Dec when the page closes.  Great Christmas present for the CF trust!

ISOBEL & BEN'S ARMY

Our Team:  Elite Squadron of 17 'not so young, not so fit' fund raising runners

Our Task:  10 (long!) miles, Great South Run, 22 October 2006

Our Aim:  To see off CF and give Isobel & Ben a fighting chance at life!

As many of you know, Lynn and Dom's daugher, Isobel (now 3 and a half), and Matt and Amanda's son, Ben (now 2) have Cystic Fibrosis (CF).  This is the UK's most common inherited disease, with 1 in 25 people carrying a CF gene.

It is a life limiting, progressive disease that attacks mainly the lungs and the digestive system, resulting in repeated chest infections, lung collapse and ultimately, irreparable damage to the lungs.  The average life expectancy is 31 and there is currently no cure.  Three young lives are lost each week to CF.

For Isobel and Ben, their daily routine involves taking various medications, physiotherapy sessions and frequent hospital reviews.  Isobel has also needed a 2 week inpatient, hospital admission for surgery to remove infected secretions on her lungs and receive IV antibiotics.

The CF Trust, together with scientists and medical researchers are working tirelessly to beat this disease, by developing and trialing gene therapy.  This is when Isobel & Ben's Army comes in!

Along with friends and family, we will be running the 10 mile Great South Run on 22 October, to raise as much as we can for the CF Trust, to give these beautiful and brave children the best chance at seeing off CF and defying the life expectancy statistics!

Please support us, Isobel and Ben, and the 7,500 other CF sufferers in the UK to help fight this disease.  Dig deep and donate as much as you can.  This site is simple, fast and totally secure.  It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us because, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no extra cost to you.

Finally, please pass on our message to anyone else you know, who might also want to support the CF Trust.  If you have any difficulties donating online, please contact 'justgiving' on their local rate telephone number - 0845 021 2110.

Thank you for your time and support.
