The victory dance from the BUPA 10k is barely over, and it's time to up the ante (and the fundraising target). Thanks to chums fitter and more whippet-like than myself, I'm trying a half marathon.
This hell when it comes in September means I have to start training in about two weeks (mid-June). What madness is this??! I've got to do things like run up hills. Even "Better the Devil You Know" remixes might not get me through this one.
My wobbling jogging is inspired by many. There's my father (mid-chemo), and my grandfather. My lovely sister (just all-clear), and all those of you who are affected by cancer one way or another. At the BUPA 10k your stories really helped spur me on. I hope raising another £1,250 for Cancer Research will help make all the difference.
So stick two fingers up at recession, crunch and redundancy. Don't go out clubbing tonight, and donate the £50 you'd spend here instead. Or stay off the lattes for a week and send over the £10 you've saved. Any bit helps, and is much appreciated.
Anybody sponsoring over £30 will be put into a sweepstake. After the race a winner will be drawn. Your prize will be a lovely meal round at Chez Dan & Moray - and we'll even put out the nibbles.
Dan xxx
