I shall be running the 24th Marathon des Sables (MdS) in March 2009.  This is a 230km ultramarathon event over 6 days in the Sahara Desert, Morocco.

I have chosen to raise money in support of The Alzheimer's Society, a cause which is very close to me and my family.

Although the event itself is some time away, my training has already started in earnest and as part of the process I will be competing in the following major events amongst others :

'Neolithic Marathon' - 4th May - 26.2 miles cross country
(COMPLETED! 4h 53min)

'Tough Guy' - 29th July - distance doesn't really come in to it. (COMPLETED! 23 minutes off last year's time :-)

'Devil o'the Highlands' 9th August - 43 miles cross country
(COMPLETED! my first ultra race. 9h 9min)

'Bullock Smithy Ultra' - 6th September - 56 miles cross country
(COMPLETED! 19h 7min)

'JW Ultra' - 27th September - 30 miles
(COMPLETED! 5h 50min)

'Round Rotherham 50' - 13th December 2008 - 50 miles cross country
