Jamie Piper (44) and Mike Ransom (42) are paddling from Devizes to for the Exeter Kidney Unit and Breast Cancer Awareness.
That’s 54 miles of canal including travelling in the darkness and porting the kayak over 77 Locks (“And that’s hoping that we actually see the weirs ahead in the dark’, Jamie said, as they are paddling NON STOP through the night. Recent rain has mean that the will be fuller (and faster than usual).
They are leaving this Saturday at 9AM, and hope to be getting out at at 9AM the next day. This is part of the Devizes and Westminster Canoe marathon.
Wendy Sincock, Exeter kidney transplant manager said: "Jamie's wife's mother had a kidney transplant nearly two
years ago and to take on this 24-hour race is a marvellous way of saying thank you to the donor family and raising funds, for Exeter Kidney Unit and Breast Cancer Awareness."
