Story
I have somehow found myself entered in the first Birmingham Half Marathon on the 26th October.
It starts at the Alexander Stadium and finishes (an hour or two, maybe more for me) at Cenenery Square.
I will be running for Myeloma Uk a charity that looks after patients and family affected by myeloma, and helps doctors with finding new treatments for the disease amongst other things.
Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a type of bone marrow cancer arising from plasma cells, which are normally found in the bone marrow. Plasma cells form part of your immune system.
Normal plasma cells produce antibodies to help fight infection. In myeloma, the abnormal plasma cells release only one type of antibody known as paraprotein which has no useful function.
There have been many new developments in the treatment and management of myeloma over the last few years that have had a significant impact on the way myeloma is treated. Research is on-going to develop new treatments and to use existing treatments in a better, more effective way.
So im running to raise as much money as possible so that research can continue. Any money that i raise will be matched by my employer up to £500 so when you donate you are in effect donating double so please dig deep! Thanks!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Myeloma UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
