UPDATE:
After a carefully-staged escape from Worthing Hospital on Friday evening, Janey & Mike lost their hair at the Henty Arms.
Many thanks to the landlord and staff at the Henty for allowing us to stage the spectacle, and to the regulars who have contributed a huge amount (not counted yet) to the fund.
Many thanks to those who have kindly donated on this site, and to those who joined us on Friday. Your generosity has been overwhelming and we have exceeded our target beyond our wildest dreams.
And special thanks to the teams at the AMU and Erringham Ward at Worthing hospital for getting Janey back on her feet and making it possible for us to go ahead.
Much love to you all
Janey & Mike
Original message;
Janey has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and is being treated at Worthing Hospital. As part of the diagnosis, she needed to have a CT scan; the waiting time for a scan can be up to two weeks - that's a long time to wait at a time like this. A second CT scanner would reduce the waiting time dramatically, giving a much improved service to people who really need it. Also, the new scanner planned will complete a full body scan in a matter of seconds, making it much easier for people who find it difficult to keep still for any length of time. This will be particularly helpful for children.
Mike and Janey will be losing their hair at the Henty Arms in Ferring, West Sussex, at 7.30pm on Friday 9th July 2010. If you could be there, we would love to see you, but if not we would be really grateful if you could support this brilliant and important cause through this site. And if you're a UK taxpayer you can help even more by GiftAid - where the government will give back the tax you've paid on your donation to the Scanner appeal - increasing your donation by 25% or so!
