Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I will be taking part in the ‘Rivington Triathlon’ on Sunday September 3.
The Olympic distance triathlon will involve a 1500 metre lake swim, a 40km bike ride through Horwich, Belmont , Abbey Village and Chorley and a 10km run around Rivington Country Park.
My aim is to raise as much money as possible for research into cancer and to increase awareness of the disease which has had such a dramatic affect on my family.
Through this disease I have lost my sister Annette to breast cancer aged just 30.
My mum Doreen, lost her fight against ovarian cancer aged 65.
My dad, Freddie, was originally diagnosed with bowel cancer more than 40 years ago and was successfully treated for the disease.
However, sadly he died aged 73 from throat cancer.
As one in three people is affected by cancer and the triathlon involves three activities, this seemed the ideal fundraiser.
I’m apprehensive because completing a triathlon is certainly challenging, but it will be great fun.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please dig deep and sponsor me.
Many thanks for your support.
