Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and to all those who have sponsored me so far.
My son, Matthew, was born in August 2007 with Nemaline Myopathy, a muscular condition supported by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
He battled bravely for 10 months, spending a long time in various hospitals (including a long stay over Christmas and New Year) and coping with numerous difficulties. Sadly he passed away in July 2008.
The London Marathon is a challenge I have always wanted to complete and the 2009 event is a way to achieve that ambition and provide a fitting way for me to honour the memory of Matthew.
My target is 3 hours 30mins, but who knows.....?!! This will be my first full marathon, having completed several half-marathons, 10 mile and 10k races. Training is progressing well, you will probably see me plodding around Ash Vale most evenings and Sunday mornings.
Update - 27/04
A huge thank you to all those who have sponsored me, it really is appreciated. On a warm Sunday, I managed to complete the marathon in 3hours 33mins 56secs. Just a few minutes off my target, but considering the heat on the day, I am still very pleased with that time.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Muscular Dystrophy Campaign gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
