Story
Hi Everyone
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. This is a totally new and different challenge for me! For those of you who know me, please be patient, for those who don't, let me give you a little bit of background... I have Multiple Sclerosis, I use crutches for very (very!) short distances and a scooter to get around the rest of the time. However, for this challenge I am going to be using a wheelchair! Thanx to the very kind Trevor Palmer at Globaleather (WWW.GL100.COM) I now have two pairs of wheelie gloves and thanx to the generosity of Felgains Care & Mobility of Ipswich, I now have the use of a sporty-looking "Quickie" wheelchair in which to do my challenge!
The Hydro Active Women's Challenge is a 5k course around Hyde Park in London. I don't think I'm going to have the strength or stamina to propel myself the full distance and this is where Phyl, my mum, comes into it!! Rebekah, my 5 year old daughter, is also joining in the fun, so we will have three generations "doing it" for MSRC!
MSRC have been such a support to me over the years, before I discovered them I thought my life was pretty much over. However, when I read the inspirational stories in their magazine "New Pathways" I realised that I could still get out there and enjoy life! And that's exactly what I've been doing ever since. They also provide a free 24 hour counselling line for anyone affected by MS (including family, friends etc) as well as running a huge website packed full of information and some really amazing, friendly message boards. Then there's all the other "normal" stuff of answering queries on the phone/by e-mail/by letter etc and all with only a handful of staff and a very limited budget!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
