Story
As a keen runner I've decided to take on the ultimate running challenge and complete the London Marathon, raising money for a charity that is close to my heart. I've been training since October, hitting the treadmill before work and braving the minus temperature to put in the miles. All this training has been in between glasses of wine and bars of chocolate, but i'm finally starting to feel in shape.
Running 26 miles will be tough on the day, but nothing compared to the hardship that the children I am running for face. Many are parentless and/or homeless after HIV and/or TB have destroyed their families. My aim is to raise £4,000 to build a playground for a new children's centre which provides care for orphans and abused children, so they have a place to relax and enjoy themselves. The children's centre is based in a village called Ingwavuma, in KwaZulu Natal on the Swaziland/Mozambique which is very rural and isolated.
I will let you all know how I get on in the marathon and email you some photos of the playground once it is built.
Many thanks for your support. Every penny counts!
