We sponsor kids from the Nairobi slums to support them through their education

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

This year I will be taking part in the Go Beyond Trans Britain Ultra which takes place between 12th and 18th September. This is a 156 mile, 6 day 6 stage foot race, equivalent to six marathons in six days, starting in Scotland and finishing in Wales. From Gretna the route takes in the Cumbrian Mountains, the Yorkshire Dales and finishes at Ruthin Castle in North Wales.

Although I have run ultra marathons before, this will be the furthest I have ever run in such a short space of time. T
his will also be my first ever multi stage race, and I'm still working out how to survive in the camp each night. Tents do have plug sockets for hair straighteners and stuff, don't they? Although given that I have to carry all my belongings myself each day, maybe I could ditch the straighteners for a few days...

I'm not asking you to pay for me to go on holiday. The entry costs of £750 are already paid, thanks to sponsorship of the deposit from TSYS, and the balance paid by me. So any donations from here are for the benefit of the charity.

Teach Africa
was set up in 2005 by Steve Adams to support the cost of secondary education for children from the Nairobi Slums, more information can be found at www.teach-africa.org

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Teach Africa gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Teach Africa provides secondary education for kids living in the worst slums of Nairobi. Half of the 13 year old's that leave primary education and go back into the slum will not see their 25th birthday - we take them out of harms way and invest in their secondary education - creating role models.
