Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
We are running the Edinburgh Marathon 2008 to raise money for the British Red Cross and would be incredibly grateful if you could sponsor us - every penny counts!

Jamie and Richard are running the whole marathon, while Vicki, John, Oli and Michael are all taking part in the Hairy Haggis Relay - covering the 26.2 miles in four stages of varying distance. Even with that approach we have concerns over Mikey making it!! ;-)

So far the training is.... well it's going! Ric and Jamie have been doing regular training runs with Jamie whinging and whining about having to run up Arthur's Seat! Vicki is quickly developing a Nike+ challenge and distance addiction. Oli has already managed a 96 minute half marathon so has no worries. Fenny is still recovering from the lurgy but is getting back out on the road and Michael has managed 3 miles in an hour - although that did include a few cigarette stops. We'll keep this site up to date with any training news as we go.

Anyway, please sponsor us, whatever amount you can and thank you for visiting our page.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update - 26/03/08. Training and fundraising is well under way. Mikey has achieved over 5 miles so is set, Jamie completed a half marathon distance this week and Fenny has been out logging some miles. Ric & Vic were out in the North Yorkshire countryside last weekend where it was very windy and cold! Thanks to those who have joined the group and a big thanks to those who have sponsored us so far! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update - 21/04/08 The training is still going well. Jamie is successfully ramping up the mileage, while Mikey and Vicki have already achieved their distance goal and so are concentrating on their speed. I successfully ran the Flora London Marathon last week in 2:54:47 so the pressure is off for the sub-3hr marathon! More importantly though, we had a very successful charity fundraising night on Saturday (see pictures - sadly a bit blurred). We all had a fantastic night, really enjoyed it and consumed a few too many beers. The overall winners were Tom Gordon (1st) and Drew Baxter, on behalf of Mark Nicolson (2nd) - Ticketmaster vouchers to those guys so very well done!! We also managed to raise £445 for the British Red Cross on the night so thank you all very much for your amazing generosity!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update - 13/05/08 Well, just under three weeks to go. Excitement? Nerves? Panic? All of the above! Richard and VIcki completed the Great Edinburgh Run 10K on 4th May and Jamie completed his first race, the Dunfermline Half Marathon, on Sunday in an impressive 1:33:12. The last long runs have been completed, fuelling strategies planned and all that's left to do is taper, sleep and drink lots of water... Oh yeah, and give it that final push for fundraising! Thanks so much to everyone who has sponsored us! You've all been very generous! :)
