Story

All done chaps, approx 250 miles in three days riding and thanks so much for your sponsorship support!

Although I did feel like having a rest on the final day a few times there was no chance of me not making it to Brighton knowing so much sponsorship was at stake.. and we did it!  I hit my target and we've given £650 (plus!!) to the British Heart Foundation this summer.

That will go into making cutting edge heart health research and development possible in the UK this year.  So hope fully a few of our loved ones will have an easier time of it and they'll have new ways to deal with heart problems.

Think about it, there must be higher love
Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above
Without it, life is a wasted time
Look inside your heart, I'll look inside mine

Hi!  I don't know about you but after all that ice and snow I'm looking forward to an epic hot, sweaty summer !

So on the 2nd longest day of the year (June 20th) I'm going to set off on an enormous, massively hot bike ride !

The 54-mile 2010 London2Brighton bike ride to be exact ! ...and I'm hoping you'll sponsor me for two reasons:

Reason 1)

You may or may not know that I've been pretty much super-glued to my bike since last July when I got a job 6 miles away from me, on the far side of Bristol !  My daily journeys have given me a chance to hear my heart pretty loudly, rev ving-up alongside all those car engines and so I've really grown to appreciate the value of that strong, dependable rhythmn.  Ultimately I've really begun to appreciate my heart health and be amazed at how it enriches my life.  Think about it for a moment.. all the effort we go to to enjoy tasty food and fresh air and after that... without any more concious effort your heart just gets on with moving all of it the entire distance around your body without you even asking it if it needs a rest!  Totally amazing!!

So I've decided that a little bit of my annoying and fidgety energy could go towards helping to bring attention to heart health in Britain alongside my co-riders on the famous London 2 Brighton bike ride this year.  As a start, and if you've not read up on the simple ways you and your family can look after your hearts just have a quick look around the British Heart Foundation website - click here.  I really hope you will find out a bit more about heart health with me this summer !

Reason 2)

You may have heard that ''Home is Where the Heart Is''?

Well, being a Brightonian born and bred I thought the London to Brighton bike ride was the ultimate way to put that motto to the test !  So I'll be setting off at 07:30 from the middle of the big City and crossing my fingers that my heart leads me back to my birthplace ... and not across barren uncharted territory to Skegness, Staines or Rhyl.  That's the test!

So that's the why!  I really hope you'll support me and the BHF.  I promise to keep you up-to-date with the full journey through action pics and gratuitous Facebook blogging (you know I will!) if you can pledge some money to the British Heart Foundation through this Just Giving page.  Maybe just £5 or £50 or however much you'd like! Just know that it will all to go towards a really fantastic charity organisation working to look after fantastic British hearts!
