PENSIONER’S PISTON POWER
John Wheater (61) is getting on his motorbike this summer in an attempt to raise £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Hairy biker John is planning to ride through all 40 counties of England in just five days, taking in a whopping 1,500 miles of open road.
Together with a team of nine other mature riders, he will start and finish at the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, Lincolnshire during June this year.
Inspired by the recent antics of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman in BBC’s Long Way Down, John is currently working hard in training at the local gym. He says ‘Macmillan nurses do the most incredible job and many of us have been touched in some way by their work. We wanted to give something back as well as having a boy’s own adventure into the bargain’.
He thanks you for reading this far and asks that you dig deep for this very worthwhile cause.
