Story
19 September 2010 - Had a great day in the rain at the GNR and while once again edged out of the medals, did a decent time of 1:46:18. More importantly, the amount raised through your generous sponsorship is approaching the target of £1,000 - many thanks to all.
VAO is a charity which sends teams of volunteer optometrists and dispensing opticians to developing countries to train local practitioners, carry out sight test clinics and provide spectacles. As a direct result of VAO's activities, over 500,000 visually impaired people are able to read, learn and earn a living - achieving a quality of life otherwise unobtainable.
My wife Caroline is a regular participant in VAO projects and will soon be leading a team of volunteers to Zambia. By entering the Great North Run I hope to make my own contribution, raising much-needed funds through your sponsorship.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Vision Aid Overseas gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks for taking an interest and please sponsor me if you can.
