Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A story that may resonate with you, as it did our family, was that of
the footballer Fabrice Muamba. John died under similar
circumstances as Muamba, but unfortunately for John, He didn’t
survive the blood clot to his heart. Just 3 months previous,
John had been given a clean bill of health from a works health check.
John Clayton, at 43 years old, died after playing a charity football
match for his cousin and long term friend, Les Wardle on
4 April 2010. He left behind a wife, and four children, his parents, 2 younger brothers and sister, and a large circle
of extended family and friends.
John was a Billingham lad born and bred, married his
childhood sweetheart, was an avid season ticketholder
for Middlesbrough Football club, worked as a manager for the
Royal Mail in Stockton on Tees, whilst studying a Law Degree part
time at Newcastle University, which he passed with honours
including his diploma in Legal Practise at the age of 36.
John, being always involved in charity work himself, including doing
the Great North Run as a NUN!, parachute jumps, and the
catterick assault course, the Clayton family want to lead by his
example and raise money for a cause close to our heart, This year being Hearts & Goals in association with Arrthymia Alliance.
The sudden loss of such a pivotal person in all our lives left a trail
of devastation and loss that is hard to describe. The family have
reached Johns 3rd year anniversary with still much pain, but now,
would like to help others that may go through the same experience.
We are raising funds in the event form of a charity football
match arranged by John’s younger brother Peter Clayton, and
John’s Son, Adam Clayton. On the afternoon/evening after the match, we hope
to raise funds at a ticket charity event at Billingham Town Football
Club. We ask if you could kindly donate a prize for the event, at which we will gladly publicise your company and tell the participants at
the events of your generosity.
